BBC's B16 studio in Lodon refurbished with DHD technology
Total system integration of a digital On Air system for BBC Broadcasting House in London
The BBC awarded Thum + Mahr with the contract for supply and SI of a complete new setup of B16 in Broadcasting House in London. A preceded EU procurement of the BBC selected the DHD digital mixing consoles after a long evaluation phase. The market analysis solidified the clear benefits of the DHD series 4200 over its competitors. The decision has been eased by the engagement of DHD's UK distributor Thum + Mahr.
Thum + Mahr was invited to supply the consoles and also do the total system integration on site. The heart of the system is a digital 24 channel RM4200. The new DHD fader strips type 029 have been chosen for the required GP layout of the console. Together with the BBC project managers Thum + Mahr layed out the software configuration and implemented it.
The B16 studio is supposed to be the prototype of the BBC's preferred audio mixing console technology with respect to the design of all BBC networks studio in the new Broadcasting House.
Thum + Mahr integrated the system with the new VCS dira! digital delivery system. In addition, the B16 console will interconnect over ATM for the BBC ATM pilot project. Handing over was on time.
